Leaning Tower of Pisa

First Graders at Oakhurst Elementary have spent the last few weeks studying the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. This lesson on architecture follows the Kindergarten lesson on the Eiffel Tower. Students learned the history of the tower's construction as well as the tower's current condition. One of our big questions was : Would the tower be famous if it wasn't leaning? We discovered that due to extensive work the tower is now beginning to straighten out and should stand for several more years! Please see attached new clip:

Students in Ms. Davis's Class work on their Towers.

"I made the Leaning Tower of Pisa with an Ice cream cone at the top and a water tube going down through the building to create a waterfall." Students were encouraged to complete a tower designing their own top level when their paintings were completed.

Come by the computer lab to see these finished pieces!
