The art of Howard Finster

Howard Finster local Georgia Folk Artist left behind a large body of work and a fantastic garden. Students at Oakhurst studied the artist and his folk art style and created works inspired by his imaginative creatures.
Students worked with a variety of materials. Drawing their animals with marker and or crayon and paint. Cutting and pasting them onto scraps of recycled cardboard and then painting patterns around them. I will admit a lot of glitter glue was used- and I have to say I love Glitter Glue! ( I am a recent glitter glue believer)

This was my first attempt at creating folk art with my first graders and I was pretty happy with the final products.
